I was just wondering, has anyone ever heard of a Squonk.........???? just kidding just kidding....I don't dare go there again...lol.
Not much to say about tonights song. I just find it very pretty and by probably my favorite singer, songwriter, Billy Joel. The song is called Lullaby (good night my angel). It was said to have been written for his daughter but I'm not sure....Enjoy!
Good night my angel time to close you eyes And save these questions for another day I think I know what you've been asking me I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you And you should always know Where ever you may go No matter where you are I never will be far away
*Verse 2* Good night my angel now it's time to sleep And still so many things I want to say Remember all the songs you sang for me When we went sailing on an emerald bay
And like a boat out on the ocean I'm rocking you to sleep The water's dark and deep Inside this ancient heart You'll always be a part of me
(Musical Bridge) Do do do do...
*Verse 3* Goodnight my angel now it's time to dream And dream how wondeful your life will be Someday your child will cry and if you sing this lullaby Then in your heart there will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone But lullabies go on and on They never die that's how you and I will be

Hi all! Matthew here with another song for the SNBC.
Has anyone ever heard of a Squonk ?
The Squonk (Lacrimacorpus dissolvens) is a legendary creature from the Hemlock forests of north-central and north-western Pennsylvania. The earliest stories about the squonk are lost to history, but the legend probably dates back at least to the late 19th Century, when Pennsylvania's importance in the lumber industry was at its peak, relying heavily on hemlock trees.
Legends
Squonks are very shy, very ugly animals. Their skin is ill-fitting, and covered with warts and moles. Because they know they are so ugly, they weep almost constantly, and try to avoid being seen.
The one well-known story about squonks has to do with how they are hunted. Apparently, squonk skin is valued by some, but they are very difficult to catch, because of their extremely retiring nature. They can be most easily tracked on nights with a full moon, when their tears form glistening trails on the ground.
Sometime around the year 1900, a man named JP Wentling was able to successfully catch a squonk. Mr Wentling followed a trail of tears, and when he heard a nearby squonk weeping under a hemlock tree, he lured it by imitating the creature, presumably by weeping. He caught the squonk in a bag, and carried it home, while it sobbed pitifully in his sack. As he carried his prize home, he suddenly noticed that the bag was lighter, and on opening it, found that there was nothing inside but tears and bubbles.
Squonks will apparently dissolve completely into tears anytime they are cornered or threatened; this is the source of their scientific name, Lacrimacorpus dissolvens, from the Latin words for 'tear', 'body', and 'dissolve'.
The funny part is that Karen thought I made this up the other night at dinner. I guess my laughter didn't help things much. Anyhow, the song I have chosen tonite has a reference to *Squonks* in the lyrics. The group is Steely Dan and the song is called Any Major Dude... Have a wonderful week.......Enjoy!!!
I never seen you looking so bad my funky one You tell me that your superfine mind has come undone
CHORUS:
Any major dude with half a heart surely will tell you my friend Any minor world that breaks apart falls together again When the demon is at your door In the morning it won't be there no more Any major dude will tell you
Have you ever seen a squonk's tears? Well, look at mine The people on the street have all seen better times
CHORUS
I can tell you all I know, the where to go, the what to do You can try to run but you can't hide from what's inside of you
Lacey (our labrador) has decided that she should howl when the fire alarm goes off in town. This is a general practice of most dogs, I understand that. Unfortunately for Lacey, she has no howling mates nearby to mimic and learn.
The technique isn't bad, she stops and sits and places her head back, this looks good except she only half squints her eyes which makes her look more constipated than serious. My laughter makes her look out of the corner of her eye with her head tipped back and makes her look even more comical and frustrates her.
Now you have the pose, but the howl; or the lack there of is quite pathetic. She starts the pitch much too high and it dwindles in and out making her loose anything representing a howl. She re-adjusts herself and tries again, this time the howl is more solid but very wavery as she hesitates to see if the alarm is still going off.
We love Lacey and respect her desire to become a real canine and join the howl, but we shall hide her during these times so not to lose face with the other neighborhood dogs.
Hi all Matthew here. I wanted to do a Father's Day post but wasn't sure how to go about it. I would have loved to do a big *shout out* to my dad here tonite but we lost him two years ago this August. I still can say how truly blessed I was to have a father as I did. He was one of the most loving, caring, giving individuals I have ever known and such a bonus for me that he was my dad. Tonite I would like to do the Father's Day tribute a different way. I have been blessed in many ways. I have a wonderful wife and four, yes four daughters. I just hope and pray I can be the husband and father to them as my dad was for me and my family. Tonite I have chosen a song by two very talented singer, song writers, John Mayer and Brad Paisley. The song is called Daughters....
I know a girl She puts the color inside of my world but she's just like a maze Where all of the walls all continually change
And I've done all I can To stand on her steps with my heart in my hand Now I'm starting to see Maybe it’s got nothing to do with me
Fathers, be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers, be good to your daughters too
Ooh, you see that skin? It's the same she's been standing in Since the day she saw him walking away Now she's left cleaning up the mess he made
So fathers, be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers, be good to your daughters too
Boys, you can break You find out how much they can take Boys will be strong And boys soldier on But boys would be gone without warmth from A woman's good, good heart
On behalf of every man looking out for every girl You are the god and the weight of her world
So fathers, be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers be good to your daughters, too So mothers be good to your daughters, too So mothers be good to your daughters, too.
I wish everyone a wonderful week
Dad you are missed, I'll see you later ...........your son, Matthew
