Whispered Promises

 On the Home Front

Dad is home!
YES!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
He is far from out of the woods but he is off oxygen and HOME and HAPPY.

He has to be cautious and yet work himself up to a operable stage.
Did I mention that he is happy?
So am I!
I will get a chance to write back to you all now.
Keep him in prayers still, but he has a goal and he is home!

 Moving On Up

I wish I could take the moment right now and answer you all individually, and I will get to that, but for now this will have to do.
Dad is out of ICU!!

He has still a lot of healing to do and it is taking a slow time of it but we are able to find out that he has 25% of his heart right now.
If he keeps improving, and gets to 35%, they can operate on the blockage (by pass). This is good news to where we sat last week.
He is delighted to get up on the floor.
Hopefully, if all goes well, he can get himself home soon.
Thank you all for your continual love, prayers and support.
I adore you all for this and appreciate your care.

 The Long Road to Home

It's been rough.
Dad has two arteries which are 80 and 90% blocked.
He has one gone, and 2 working fine.
That is the case and will be the case because there is nothing else that can be done. The heart disease is too far gone and is unoperable.
Yesterday he struggled breathing and it was frustrating him. They took him down to get a cat scan because the pneumonia was cleared up but he was dipping too low in his oxygen level.
The cat scan came back negative for a blood clot and there wasn't any sign of fluid in the lungs which brought it all back to the heart.
My brother, Dad and I talked to the DR who reassigned some meds because they were talking about incubating him.
That seemed the trick, he was able to get out of the danger zone last night and showing good oxygen level this morning. So he escaped the breathing tube.
YES!
Good news!

This morning when the nurse asked if he needed anything he said, "Yeah, coffee and my car keys." His humor has never left but I think he is half serious.
He wants out.
We want him out.
Hopefully, that is where he will be soon.
Thanks so much to you all. I was going to sit down and write back to you all but I am tired, I am going to lay down and rest while the youngins are in school. I will hop back later and catch you all.
I really can't tell you how grateful I am of your prayers, for dad's healing and for the decisions we have had to face as a family.
Dag gone this is no fun.
I love you all and will continue to let you know how it goes.
They are talking about getting him out of ICU in a few days if he continues to progress.
That's what I'm talking about!!

 Update on Dad

They had to put everything on hold.
His blood oxygen level was low yesterday and he had to go on Oxygen.
Today they informed us that he has pnemonia.
This has put all other procedures on hold of course.
Thank you for your prayers and support, they are truly appreciated.

 My Dad's Heart

My dad went to the hospital this morning.
Same old, same old.
Dad's family has heart issues, my dad did not escape that.
He's from a large family and he is the last of 'the boys', all have since died from heart problems.
Over ten years ago dad had heart by-pass surgery, he is 71 years old now.
Things have gone well until recently.
At the beginning of summer he went in and found blockages and they put a stunt in and cleaned out the arteries.
Today, we found out that he is down to 2, he lost one permanently along the way, and 2 are blocked up.
Dad is a free spirit and doesn't let things get him down. Hospital stays annoy him and he is bed ridden this time around.
The doctor tells us that they were hoping to clear the blockages medically, but that isn't working and since he had the other procedure earlier, that isn't an option this time around.
The only alternative is the by pass once again. They are waiting the weekend through then will be making plans.
It's frustrating to hear.
Dad is rooming with an old friend and they are catching up on old times and he has the cable channel for hunting, fishing and boxing, so he will bide his time.
He is a stubborn, but good man.
Before you lay your head down tonight, pray for my dad. He is a strong believer and doesn't fear death but would certainly like to put it on hold for a while, heaven can wait a bit longer please.

The picture is of my brother Mike, his oldest son Dean, his father in law, and Our dad.
(This was taken this summer at Deans Graduation Party.)
